[ ] - "Rose" is the first episode of the Series One of the revived British science fiction television programme Doctor Who. The episode was written by show runner Russell T Davies and directed by Keith Boak. It was first broadcast on 26 March 2005. In the episode, Rose Tyler meets a mysterious man called the Doctor in the department store where she works, while being attacked by shop window dummies called Autons. She then starts to investigate him and together they uncover an alien plot by the Nestene Consciousness to take over the Earth. Rose and the Doctor manage to beat the invasion together and she accepts his offer to travel through time and space with him in the TARDIS. This episode marked the debut of Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor and Billie Piper as companion Rose Tyler. This episode was the first Doctor Who episode since the last series in 1989 and was also the first since the television movie in 1996. It was seen by 10.81 million viewers in the UK and received positive reviews from critics.
